Seamless Donations is Available for Adoption

After many years and hours of working on this plugin, I have other pressing priorities I need to attend to. I can no longer maintain or support this plugin in any way.

The plugin is available for adoption.

If you are interested in adopting it, please make sure you are willing to accept the wordpress.org plugin guidelines at https://wordpress.org/plugins/about/guidelines/ and then contact me at allen at allendav dot com so I can add your wordpress.org account to the plugin and remove mine.

Thanks for your support and best wishes.

Seamless Donations for WordPress 3.3.0 – Important Update

A new version of Seamless Donations is now available! It includes an important change and is a required update. PayPal will soon require TLS for IPN chat backs, and this version of Seamless Donations includes that fix.

Also, thanks to a pull request from smarques, Seamless Donations now has more robust special character handling for IPN requests. Thanks Sergio!

As always, let me know if you have any questions, ideas, or run into any issues. Pull requests welcome.

Have You Created Icons for Your Plugins Yet?

I’ve just added an icon for Seamless Donations for WordPress – its meant to evoke a coin being dropped into a giving box – and I’ve tested the plugin for WordPress 4.0:

sd-icon

Have you tested your plugins for WordPress 4.0 and created icons yet? It’s easy to do – why not take a few moments today?

Have you upgraded to WordPress 4.0 yet? You should :)

Interested in contributing to Seamless Donations for WordPress? I can’t do it all myself – pull requests are always welcome on GitHub.

Seamless Donations 3.1.0 – CSS IDs and Item Name Filter

As requested, each section of the donation form now has a unique CSS ID to make styling the form easier – the IDs are (from top to bottom):
dgx-donate-form-sandbox-warning
dgx-donate-form-noscript-warning
dgx-donate-form-donation-section
dgx-donate-form-tribute-section
dgx-donate-form-employer-section
dgx-donate-form-donor-section
dgx-donate-form-address-section
dgx-donate-form-payment-section
Note that the first section only appears when you’re testing in sandbox mode. Note that the second section only appears to visitors with JavaScript disabled.

I’ve also added by request a filter on the item name. If you’d like to have something other than “Donation” appear on the PayPal checkout page, don’t modify the Seamless Donations plugin (you’ll lose your changes when you update the plugin), but instead add the following to your theme (e.g. your child theme’s functions.php, or many themes have a custom.php that is preserved across theme updates.)
function my_custom_item_name( $item_name ) {
return "Donation – Revenue Canada Tax ID: 999999999RR0001";
}

add_filter( ‘dgx_donate_item_name’, ‘my_custom_item_name’ );
Just substitute the value you’d like above.

I’ve been very busy, so this is kind of a small release. French language files are coming soon, not yet ready. German is in the works too!

How to Customize Giving Levels in Seamless Donations

If you would like to customize the giving levels in Seamless Donations, you can select which giving levels you’d like to appear by going to your dashboard and selecting them on the Seamless Donations > Settings page. There you can choose from the built-in giving levels of 1000, 500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 10 and 5.

But what if you’d like different levels to choose from? Don’t modify the Seamless Donations plugin (you’ll lose your changes when you update the plugin), but instead add the following to your theme (e.g. your child theme’s functions.php, or many themes have a custom.php that is preserved across theme updates.)
function my_custom_giving_levels( $levels ) {
return array( 300, 150, 100, 30, 10 );
}

add_filter( ‘dgx_donate_giving_levels’, ‘my_custom_giving_levels’ );
Just substitute the values you’d like above. You will then be able to use the Seamless Donations > Settings page to work with your new giving levels.

Important Update – Seamless Donations 3.0.0

This is an important update and recommended – it fixes a bug that could cause IPN notifications to fail to generate donation records.

If you had situations where a donation appeared in PayPal, but didn’t register in Seamless Donation’s donation list, you can try re-sending the IPN for affected donations from your PayPal account by using the My Account > History > IPN History page in your PayPal account.

As a bonus, this release also adds support for a UK Gift Aid checkbox that UK donors can select during checkout.

Using Seamless Donations already? To update to the latest, log in to your WordPress Dashboard and go to Dashboard > Updates.

Not yet using Seamless Donations? You can get the plugin from the WordPress.org repository, or select “Add New” from Plugins in your WordPress Dashboard and search for “seamless donations.”

Seamless Donations 2.9.0 – Full International Currency Support and Matching Funds

This release marks a very significant milestone in the development of Seamless Donations for WordPress. Seamless Donations now supports Euros, Pound Sterling, Yen, and Canadian and Australian Dollars, in addition to US Dollars. All this and another new feature provided by the community – employer matching.

International currency support has been a long time in the making, and I am so very happy to launch this release. At lot of the foundational work for currency support went into the most recent versions (which some of you noticed in the code), and all that work is live.

I want to express my deeper thanks to all you who have encouraged and supported me thus far, and a special thank you to Jamie Summerlin for the work on employer matching and there is still much work to do.

I would love especially to get some translations on board. I will have French in the next release, and would love to add German, Italian, Spanish and other languages too! Let me know here or on the support forums if you’d like to help with translations. No coding skills required!

As always, let me know if you have any questions, ideas, or run into any issues – the support forum is available here.

Seamless Donations 2.7.0 – Now Supports International Donors

The newest version of Seamless Donations now lets you accept donations from non US donors. It’s the next step toward full international support in the plugin. Your donors can select their country during the donation process (US and Canadian donors will also be able to pick their state or province.)

Donations are still in US Dollars, but other currency support will be coming in the next release.

Existing users should see an upgrade link in their Dashboard under plugins to upgrade to 2.7.0.
